Coastal Education Program for CVESD
Since opening in 1987, the Living Coast and Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) have partnered together to provide standards-based, hands-on science classes to all schools throughout the district.

Program Structure
The Coastal Education Program at the Living Coast involves a hands-on, standards-based lesson with the Science Resource teacher or a Living Coast staff member. The day will also include a guided tour with a Docent Volunteer, time to explore the Living Coast exhibits, and a provided lunch space with storage for lunches. The exact program schedule varies by grade level.

Program Fees
This program is generously subsidized by the Chula Vista Elementary School District.
$100 / K-3 Class; $125 / 4-8 Class; $10 / extra chaperone *Call for SDC class information
Other Fees
- Charter School Fee of an additional $2/student
- $20/fish or squid dissection class program
- $50/shuttle if not arriving on school bus
Free Transportation Sponsorship
Through the Unified Port of San Diego, transportation can be covered for your entire grade level! You must register online by August 26 for a chance to win! Winners will be contacted by your resource teacher, Karen Quiros.
FREE Composting for Kids Outreach Program
Grades 3-8
We come to your classroom and teach the “Whats, Whys, and Hows of Composting”. If you have a compost bin on site, we also spend time turning the pile together. Email Katharine@thelivingcoast.org to find out more. Virtual option(s) now available.
