Compost Workshops

Offered every Sunday at 11:30 AM.

Composting turns organic waste that would end up in a landfill into nutrient-rich soil. Lower your carbon footprint, divert waste, and enhance your garden all with one solution. Join us for a one-hour workshop to get you started and answer questions. (Included with cost of admission)

Compost bins are available for $35 to Chula Vista residents who have attended one of the City’s composting workshops or the Master Composter Course.

Chula Vista residents can receive free admission to the Living Coast on select Sundays! Click here to sign up.

On the first Sunday of the month, the compost workshop will be offered in English and Spanish. On the last Sunday of the month, the workshop will cover Vermicomposting!

What is Vermicomposting?

It’s simple! Vermicomposting uses earthworms to convert organic waste into fertilizer! Creating your own worm bin at home is easy, and the Living Coast is here to show you how. On the last Sunday of each month, our Sustainability Manager, Katharine, will host a vermicomposting workshop at the Living Coast! Check out this video for some tips on vermicomposting! Special thanks to the Port of San Diego.

*Workshop is included with the Living Coast admission, subject to cancellation.
