Living Lab Program Descriptions & Resources

Awe Chemistry! (9-12)
Students will visit a local wetland to sample current conditions. Learn the importance of variables such as salinity, pH, turbidity, and oxygen when it comes to monitoring the health of an ecosystem!
Jr. Ichthyologist (9-12)
Students will dissect fish to learn about their internal systems and discover what may have caused their death. Explore the anatomy and physiology of fish as ichthyologists studying their health and environmental factors!

Where’s My Shell (9-12)
Mollusks are classified as soft bodied animals with shells. But some modern mollusks have evolved, missing their shell! Through this program, students will dissect squid and explore the evolution of this shell-less mollusk. Students will look for patterns in how organisms are classified, and compare-contrast squids to other living mollusks.
Educational Tour (9-12)
Students will visit a local wetland to sample current This program is led by our team of highly trained docent volunteers. Tours include visits to the outdoor exhibits: sea turtles, sharks & rays, and eagles. Living Labs include the tour as part of the program. The Education team will do its best to assign a docent volunteer to each group that registers, however we cannot guarantee it. Accommodations will be made to the best of our ability.
