We are pleased to offer a bilingual weekend option for the Master Composter Training Course! This accelerated course offering will cover all the topics we typically cover in our spring and fall trainings. This option is ideal for those who can’t make weeknight classes or are unable to commit to a seven-week program.
COURSE DESCRIPTION |

WEEK 1 – Intro to Composting Lecture: Learn all the basics of how to create and maintain a compost pile – Build compost piles in the demonstration garden – “The Big Picture” Review recycling and commercial composting operations |
WEEK 2 – The Compost Food Web Lecture: Delve into the FBI, the decomposers of the compost pile – Healthy Soils Lecture: Learn about what makes up soil and how to determine what type of soil you have in your garden space |
WEEK 3 – Vermicomposting 101 lecture: Learn how to vermicompost and take home a worm bin! – Bokashi Fermentation: Learn how this food fermentation method can enhance your garden space |
WEEK 4 – Student Presentations: Work with classmates to present on a compost-related topic you learned about – Final reviews and compost quiz! Students can purchase Soil Saver bins for $35 to start composting at home |

Join us for this free seven-week course at the Living Coast Discovery Center, which provides training in the art and science of composting through hands-on demonstrations, lectures, and more!
The course covers traditional composting, compost pile building, vermicomposting, soil health, bugs and compost, environmental impacts, and more!
