Paddle the Pacific

Paddle the Pacific

Week 1 (June 8-12), Week 4 (June 29-July 3)

Paddle on over to San Diego Bay and experience this exciting camp! Campers will learn about amazing Pacific animals during this interactive camp, featuring experiments and other activities. Campers will experience San Diego Bay in a whole new way! 
 
Please complete the Chula Vista Water Sports Waiver and email it to education@thelivingcoast.orgbefore the start of camp. Please send it with the subject line “Wildlife Camps Water Sports Waiver”.  

Chula Vista Water Sports Waiver 

During camp, we will:

Day 1: 

  • Participate in a squid dissection
  • Meet a Living Coast animal ambassador
  • Go on a trail walk. 

Day 2: 

  • Go on a field trip to the San Diego Bay
  • Meet a Living Coast animal ambassador
  • Work on a camp craft 

Day 3: 

  • Get up close with an animal ambassador
  • Talk and learn about watersheds
  • Play a camp game

Day 4: 

  • Play watersports on San Diego Bay
  • Learn about plankton in the Sweetwater watershed
  • Meet a Living Coast animal ambassador

Day 5: 

  • Participate in an animal feeding
  • Play a camp game
  • Go on a beach clean-up

Week 2 (June 15-19), Week 5 (July 6-10)

Dig into sustainability with the Living Coast! In this adventure-filled camp, students will learn about the various elements of sustainability, horticulture, and water conservation in San Diego County. They’ll have the opportunity to learn Living Coast sustainability practices firsthand and enjoy up-close animal encounters. 

During Camp, we will:

Day 1: 

  • Meet an animal
  • Learn about horticulture
  • Make a craft

Day 2: 

  • Go on a field trip
  • Learn about watershed ecology
  • Meet a Living Coast animal ambassador

Day 3: 

  • Learn all about composting
  • Have an awesome animal encounter
  • Make a craft with compost

Day 4: 

  • Go on a field trip
  • Meet an animal
  • Learn about water preservation

Day 5: 

  • Learn about the 6 Rs of sustainability
  • Meet an animal ambassador
  • Participate in a beach cleanup

Week 3 (June 22-26), Week 6 (July 13-17)

Dig into sustainability with the Living Coast! In this adventure-filled camp, students will learn about the various elements of sustainability, horticulture, and water conservation in San Diego County.   • Meet a Living Coast animal ambassador

Day 3: 

  • Discuss adaptations of plants
  • Meet an animal up close
  • Work on a camp craft

Day 4: 

  • Go on a field trip to the San Diego Bay
  • Meet an invertebrate
  • Participate in a fish dissection

Day 5: 

  • Go on a walk on the refuge
  • Explore the Galleria
  • Participate in an animal feeding
