SUMMARY:Otay Valley Regional Park Bug Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we search for bugs on the trails of the Otay Valley Regional Park! During this hike\, we will learn about the importance of native insects and use tools like magnifying glasses and bug boxes to look for signs of wildlife around Fenton Pond. \nDate: Sunday\, February 9\nCheck-in time: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet just north of the parking lot at the ranger station at 2155 Beyer Blvd\, San Diego\, CA 92154. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: From I-805: Take I-805 south to the Main Street exit. Turn right onto Main St and continue for approximately 2.2 miles. Turn left onto Broadway and continue as it turns into Beyer Blvd. The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right\, roughly .5 miles from Main Street. \nSuggested parking: This park offers a dirt/gravel lot with limited spaces. This lot is at 2155 Beyer Blvd\, San Diego\, CA 92154. ** Please note that this lot does not open if there is rain. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are near the ranger station off Beyer Blvd. \nHike lengths: This location can provide two hike options. The first option is a shorter hike\, approximately ¾ of a mile. The second option is a longer hike that is approximately 1 ½ miles. This location is flat with small gravel and sand\, suitable for most wheelchairs and strollers. \nProgram Supplies: Water\, sunscreen/hat\, and walking shoes with proper support. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

The first option is a shorter hike that will follow the Fenton pond trail loop and is approximately ¾ of a mile. The second option is a longer hike that will follow the Fenton Pond trail loop and then continue on the trail past a meadow area. This hike option is approximately 1 ½ miles. \nProgram Supplies: Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended.\n\nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.
