Spring Day Camp 2015 Highlights

IMG_0006Spring Day Camps a Success!

Here are just some of the highlights and photos (left and below) of our recent Spring Day Camps at the Living Coast Discovery Center.  Thanks to all the little biologists who came out to learn fun things about the animals, plants and habitats of San Diego Bay. Thanks also to the parents, guardians and grandparents who brought their kids to the Living Coast this spring!

We’re looking forward to seeing you again this summer – if not sooner!

Super Powers of the SuperWild: These superheroes-in-training got to discover animal super powers (adaptations), create their own hybrid creature, and tackle all kinds of fun obstacles. They were also the first to meet the Animal Ambassadors from our SuperWild exhibit.

Kayaks and Keepers: Instructor Janani says her arms got a workout at this camp that explored the bay from the water and animals from the Living Coast.

Nature Investigative Unit: Camp manager Amanda was concerned that our tortoises, who were hibernating until just before camp started, wouldn’t wake up in time to star as the Missing Animals in our detective caper. But they surprised us and were ready to roll with the campers in the nick of time!

Bio Days: What a great way to learn, feeding animals, cleaning enclosures and shadowing members of our Animal Care staff were just a few highlights. Instructor Marian says the teens loved fishing for mollies from the bay and thought that feeding baby stingrays was the best.

Little Gardeners: Our Pre-K and Kinder camp was full of giggles as the kids dug in the dirt and discovered all kinds of interesting things about plants and bugs!

It’s not too early to register your young ones for our very popular Summer Day Camps on San Diego Bay.  The best way to make sure you get those kids registered — and save money — is to take advantage of our Early Bird Discounts, which run April 10-24. Click here for more information.
