DESCRIPTION:Join us as we partner with the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary for a bilingual hike in Del Mar! We will have the opportunity to learn about the fantastic local wildlife around the San Dieguito Lagoon and River Valley in English and Spanish. The hike will begin at the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary and continue on the Coast to Crest Trail.         \n\n\nDate: January 10\, 2026\nCheck-in: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours  \n \n\n\nMeeting Location: Free Flight Bird Sanctuary at 2132 Jimmy Durante Blvd\, Del Mar. \nDriving directions: Follow I-5 N and take Exit 36 onto Via De La Valle in San Diego. Make a left onto Via De La Valle and then turn left onto Jimmy Durante Blvd. Continue on Jimmy Durante Blvd. until you reach the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary on the right.   \n\n\nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary or across the street in the paid parking lot  \n\n\nRestrooms and Water: Bathrooms and a water station are available at the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary. \nHike length: Approximately 2 miles  \n\n\nProgram Supplies:  Please wear comfortable clothes and hiking shoes. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection is highly recommended.   \n\n\nHiking level: Easy  \n\n\nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. SUMMARY:Sweetwater Safari Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.
