Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. DESCRIPTION:Celabrate Shark Week with the Living Coast!\nJoin us for an after-hours talk on the local shark species of San Diego with Dr. Heidi Dewar\, Fish Biologist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  \nTo attend:  \nTickets must be purchased in advance to attend. The event starts at 6:00 PM. Please arrive in the Living Coast parking lot by 5:30 PM to ride our complimentary shuttle in.  \nGuests may arrive at the center before 4:30 PM to visit prior to the talk. No shuttle service will occur between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. At 6:00 PM\, all exhibits will close. We will be closed after the talk\, and the last shuttle to the parking lot will leave promptly at 7:00 PM.  \nCost: $20  \nMembers attend for free.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all Shark Week fin-atics: The American Red Cross and the Living Coast Discovery Center invite community members to dive in and help save lives at an exciting blood donation opportunity on Sunday\, July 16\, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM\, at the Living Coast Discovery Center \nSharks are vitally important to the health of the planet – just like blood donors play an equally important role in helping keep the national blood supply healthy and strong. The need for blood products doesn’t take a summer break. \nAll presenting donors will receive an exclusive Shark Week shirt from Discovery\, while supplies last\, plus free admission to the Living Coast Discovery Center (blood drive appointment required).* In addition\, all those who come to give blood will be automatically entered to win a three-night New York getaway for two with a private shark dive adventure at Long Island Aquarium.** \nLEARN MORE \n  \nHOW TO DONATE \nDownload the American Red Cross Blood Donor App\, visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) and use sponsor code LIVINGCOAST to make your appointment to donate. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law)\, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements. \n*Free admission to the Living Coast Discovery Center is for presenting blood donors only. Paid admission is required for guests of blood donors who are not donating blood.
