Participants will pick up trash throughout the protected marsh and learn about the native plants and wildlife that live on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Help us make a difference by keeping this critical coastal habitat clean! \n \nDate: May 25th\, 2024\nCheck-in time: 11:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \nMeeting Location: We will meet in the Living Coast Discovery Center’s parking lot\, located off Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. Once you park your vehicle\, look for the Living Coast canopy for check-in! \nDriving directions: From the I-5 freeway\, take exit 8B onto E St. Head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the Living Coast Discovery Center Parking Lot. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the Living Coast Discovery Center’s front doors. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but visitors must pay the admission fees to enter the facility to visit the exhibits. \nProgram Supplies: Buckets\, trash bags\, gloves\, safety vests\, and grabbers will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

SUMMARY:Trail to Bay Hike: Otay Valley Regional Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we become master trackers on the trails of Otay Valley Regional Park. This hike will focus on looking for signs of native wildlife\, including tracks\, scat\, and the different types of animal homes that surround Fenton Pond. This location is flat with small gravel and sand\, suitable for most wheelchairs and strollers. \nDate: Sunday\, June 2\nCheck-in time: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet just north of the parking lot at the ranger station at 2155 Beyer Blvd\, San Diego\, CA 92154. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! More info. \nDriving directions: From I-805: Take I-805 south to the Main Street exit. Turn right onto Main St and continue for approximately 2.2 miles. Turn left onto Broadway and continue as it turns into Beyer Blvd. The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right\, roughly .5 miles from Main Street. \nSuggested parking: This park offers a dirt/gravel lot with limited spaces. This lot is at 2155 Beyer Blvd\, San Diego\, CA 92154.\n** Please note that this lot does not open if there is rain. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are near the ranger station off Beyer Blvd. \nHike length: This location can provide two hike options. The first option is a shorter hike\, approximately ¾ of a mile. The second option is a longer hike that is approximately 1 ½ miles. \nProgram Supplies: Water\, sunscreen/hat\, bug repellent\, and walking shoes with proper support. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.
