SUMMARY:Trail to Bay Hike: Tijuana Estuary
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Trail to Bay Hike on the Tijuana Estuary as a part of Latino Conservation Week and Tijuana River Action Month! \nThe Tijuana Estuary is a marshland located in the most southwestern part of the United States. This flat trail takes you through the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve\, along the Imperial Beach coastline with the Mexican border in the background. Encounter native wildlife and plants in this unique and endangered ecosystem. \nDuring Latino Conservation Week\, September 13 to 21\, adults and youth will have the opportunity to experience the outdoors in new ways and learn how they can help protect our land\, water\, and air. Latino Conservation Week: Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra is an initiative of Hispanic Access Foundation. \nTijuana River Action Month is a series of education and stewardship events held during September and October to benefit the Tijuana River Watershed. The goals of TRAM are to mobilize a record number of community volunteers and groups to become stewards of the Tijuana River Watershed\, and to recognize key efforts and investments by public and private agencies\, businesses\, non-profits\, and community groups to protect and restore the Tijuana River. \n \n  \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center\, located at 301 Caspian Way\, Imperial Beach\, CA 91932. Driving Directions: Follow I-5 S to Coronado Ave in San Diego. Turn right onto Coronado Ave. Continue onto Imperial Beach Blvd. Turn left onto 3rd St. 3rd St turns left and becomes Caspian Way. Turn right into the Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center. \nSuggested Parking: Parking is available at the visitor center and on the street. \nRestrooms and Water: Available at Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center after 10:00 AM \nProgram Time: 9:00-11:00 AM \nHike Length: 0.75 miles \nTrail Difficulty Level: This trail is a flat dirt/gravel path that is listed as easy. \nRecommended Gear: Comfortable walking shoes\, water pack/bottle\, layers of clothing

DESCRIPTION:PLEASE NOTE: We are monitoring local agencies’ concerns over hazardous gas levels in the region and may cancel this hike if advised. Please check back for news as we learn more! \nSweetwater River Trail Hike \nJoin us for a bilingual guided hike\, during which we will discover the different native species that call the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge home! We will also see the distinctive view of San Miguel Mountain and learn about the importance of watersheds. The hike begins at the Sweetwater River Bridge and continues to a looped trail. \nDate: Sunday\, September 22nd\nCheck-in time: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet at Millar Ranch Rd\, Spring Valley\, CA 92019 at the new trail parking lot. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: Take 94 East until it turns into Campo Road. Turn right onto CA-94 E/Campo Road. Turn right onto Millar Ranch Rd. The parking area will be on your right. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the new trail parking lot\, and additional parking is available on the street at no cost. If you park on the street\, you must walk a short distance to join the group. \nRestrooms and Water: No restrooms or water stations are available on the trail. The nearest restrooms are in the strip mall down the street. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Team Up to Clean Up event at Pepper Park and help us protect and care for our coastal environment!
