DESCRIPTION:Join our Bilingual Bird Hike with Free Flight Bird Sanctuary on Mother Miguel Mountain Trail! Let’s spot wildlife\, discuss the Sweetwater Watershed\, and learn why it’s essential to keep our natural spaces clean. \nDate: Sunday\, December 21\nTime: 9:00 AM\nLocation: Mother Miguel Mountain \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet just north of the Mt San Miguel Park parking lot\, located at 2335 Paseo Veracruz\, Chula Vista\, CA 91914. We will meet at the far end of the parking lot next to the dog park. \nDriving Directions: Take 125 south to the Paradise Valley Road exit. Turn right onto Elkelton Place\, then right onto Paradise Valley Road. After approximately .5 mile\, turn left onto S Worthington Street. Continue as S Worthington Street turns into Sweetwater Road. Turn left onto Bonita Road\, then take the next left onto San Miguel Road. Follow San Miguel Road for approximately .9 miles\, then turn right onto Proctor Valley Road. Follow Proctor Valley Road for approximately .5 miles\, then turn left onto San Miguel Ranch Road. Continue as San Miguel Ranch Road turns into Mt Miguel Road\, then turn left onto Paseo Veracruz. Enter the parking lot for Mt San Miguel Park and make the first right. \nSuggested Parking: This location’s parking lot is part of the Mt San Miguel Park\, and has limited parking for the area. This lot is located at 2335 Paseo Veracruz\, Chula Vista\, CA 91914 \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms and water fountains are located at Mt San Miguel Park\, at the center of the baseball fields. Please see the map below for the location. \nHike Length: This hike will lead up and around the mountain\, offering spectacular views of the surrounding city and the Sweetwater Reservoir. We estimate the hike to be 4 to 5 miles round-trip and will last approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours. \nHiking Level: Difficult due to steep inclines and rocky terrain. \nNecessary Supplies: Water\, bug/sun protection\, layers\, and strong hiking footwear are highly suggested.

Participants will pick up trash throughout the park and surrounding areas\, enjoy the amazing view of San Diego Bay\, and learn how we can all make a difference by keeping our parks and waterways clean! \nDate: Saturday\, February 21\nTime: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM\nLocation: Bayfront Park\, Chula Vista CA \n\n \n\nMeeting Location: Bayfront Park\, 980 Marina Way\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. We will meet next to the Bayfront Park parking lot\, in the grassy area before the restrooms and the Chula Vista boat launching ramp. Look for the Living Coast canopy!  \n\n\nDriving Directions: From the I-5 Freeway take Exit 7B onto J Street\, then continue onto Marina Pkwy. Turn left onto Marina Way. SUMMARY:Bug Hike at Otay Lakes County Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we explore the Otay Lakes County Park hiking trail! We will view the Otay Lakes Reservoir from multiple viewpoints and learn about the native plants and animals thriving in this protected area. In addition to the trail’s views\, we will also have the opportunity to explore the park’s native plant garden!  \nDate: Saturday\, February 28\nTime: 10:00 – 12:00 AM\nLocation: Otay Lakes County Park \n \n\n\nMeeting Location: We will meet in front of the Ranger Station at Otay Lakes County Park\, located at 2270 Wueste Road\, Chula Vista\, CA 91915. See attached map! Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo!  \n\n\nDriving directions: Take 805 South to the Olympic Parkway exit. Head east on Olympic Parkway and continue for approximately 6.8 miles. Turn right onto Wueste Road and continue for approximately 2.2 miles to Otay Lakes County Park.  \n\n\nSuggested parking: Parking is available within the county park. You will need to purchase a $3 parking permit at the machine upon entry\, then park in the upper parking lot. Additional parking is available on the street at no cost\, as well as at the Otay Lakes Boating Ramp. If you park on the street or by the boating dock\, you will need to walk the rest of the way to join the group.   \n\n\nRestrooms and Water: Restrooms are located near the Ranger Station in the center of the park. The trailhead is straight ahead from the restrooms.   \n\n\nHike length: This location offers a 2-mile hike.   \n\n\nTrail Difficulty Level: This hike is moderate due to rocky terrain and a 320-foot incline.  \n\n\nRecommended Gear: Water\, sunscreen/hat\, bug repellent\, and walking shoes with proper support.
