SUMMARY:Rice Canyon Trail Plant Hike (Bilingual English/Spanish)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a bilingual (English/Spanish) hike as we explore the Rice Canyon Trail! This trail showcases some of the amazing native wildlife found in Chula Vista\, especially our native plants! We will look at native plant adaptations\, traces of animals\, and the trailhead succulent garden. We will also be joined by Park Rangers\, who will help us learn how to stretch for a hike! \nDate: Saturday\, February 22\nCheck-in time: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet on the west side of the parking lot at 1242 Cima Del Rey\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: From 805 South\, take the Bonita Road exit. Turn left onto Bonita Road and continue approximately 2.2 miles. Turn right onto Otay Lakes Road and continue approximately 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Avenida Del Rey\, then turn left onto N Rancho Del Rey Parkway. In approximately .4 miles\, the Rice Canyon Open Space Preserve entrance will be on the right. \nSuggested parking: This park offers a dirt/gravel lot with limited spaces. This lot is located at 1242 Cima Del Rey\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910 \nRestrooms and Water: This location does not offer restrooms or water\, so please plan accordingly. The closest restrooms would be in the park across the street. \nHike lengths: 1 mile out and back along a straight trail \nProgram Supplies:  Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

SUMMARY:Sweetwater Safari Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.
