This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. Please check back for news as we learn more! \nSweetwater River Trail Hike \nJoin us for a bilingual guided hike\, during which we will discover the different native species that call the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge home! We will also see the distinctive view of San Miguel Mountain and learn about the importance of watersheds. The hike begins at the Sweetwater River Bridge and continues to a looped trail. \nDate: Sunday\, September 22nd\nCheck-in time: 9:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet at Millar Ranch Rd\, Spring Valley\, CA 92019 at the new trail parking lot. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: Take 94 East until it turns into Campo Road. Turn right onto CA-94 E/Campo Road. Turn right onto Millar Ranch Rd. The parking area will be on your right. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the new trail parking lot\, and additional parking is available on the street at no cost. If you park on the street\, you must walk a short distance to join the group. \nRestrooms and Water: No restrooms or water stations are available on the trail. We will have the opportunity to learn about the amazing local wildlife around the San Dieguito Lagoon and River Valley in English\, Spanish\, and American Sign Language. The hike will begin at the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary and continue on the Coast to Crest Trail. \nDate: Friday\, September 27\nCheck-in time: 11:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will be meeting outside of the Free Flight Bird Sanctuary at 2132 Jimmy Durante Blvd\, Del Mar. \nDriving directions: Follow I-5 N and take Exit 36 onto Via De La Valle in San Diego. Guides from San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy and the Living Coast Discovery Center will lead a bilingual (English/Spanish) hike\, where we will explore the mysterious world of bats and learn about their essential role in our ecosystem! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with nature and discover the wonders of the night sky. \nDate: Saturday\, October 26th\nCheck-in time: 5:00 PM\nDuration: 2 hours \nSOLD OUT!  \nMeeting Location: We will meet at the parking lot at 19140 W Bernardo Dr\, San Diego\, CA 92127\, near the Piedras Pintadas Trailhead and the entrance to the Bernardo Bay Trails. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: Take I-15 N. Take exit 26 and turn left toward W Bernardo Dr in San Diego. Follow W Bernardo Dr until you reach the parking lot. Turn right into the parking lot and staging area. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the trail parking lot. \nRestrooms and Water: A portable toilet may be available. No water stations are available on the trail. The nearest indoor restrooms will be in the park down the street. Become an entomologist and use tools like magnifying glasses and bug boxes to look closer into the incredible world of butterflies\, beetles\, and more! During our hike\, we will learn about the importance of native insects\, see the Otay Lakes Reservoir from various viewpoints\, and explore the park’s native plant garden. \nDate: Saturday\, November 23\nCheck-in: 10:00 AM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet in front of the Ranger Station at Otay Lakes County Park\, 2270 Wueste Road\, Chula Vista\, CA 91915. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving Directions: Take 805 South to the Olympic Parkway exit. Head east on Olympic Parkway and continue for approximately 6.8 miles. Turn right onto Wueste Road and continue for approximately 2.2 miles to Otay Lakes County Park. \nSuggested Parking: Parking is available within the county park. You will need to purchase a parking permit for $3 at the machine as you enter and park in the upper parking lot. Additional parking is available on the street at no cost\, as well as at the Otay Lakes Boating Ramp. If you park on the street or by the boating dock\, you must walk the rest of the way to join the group. \nRestrooms and Water: Restrooms are located near the Ranger Station in the park’s center. \nThe trailhead is straight ahead of the restrooms. \nHike Length: This location has about a 2-mile hike. \nProgram Supplies: Water\, sunscreen/hat\, bug repellent\, and walking shoes with proper support. \nHiking Level: Moderate \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

We will meet at the far end of the parking lot next to the dog park. \nDriving directions: Take 125 south to the Paradise Valley Road exit. Turn right onto Elkelton Place\, then right onto Paradise Valley Road. After approximately .5 miles\, turn left onto S Worthington Street. Continue as S Worthington Street turns into Sweetwater Road. Turn left onto Bonita Road\, then take the next left onto San Miguel Road. Follow San Miguel Road for approximately .9 miles\, and then turn right onto Proctor Valley Road. Follow Proctor Valley Road for approximately .5 miles\, then turn left onto San Miguel Ranch Road. Continue as San Miguel Ranch Road turns into Mt Miguel Road\, then turn left onto Paseo Veracruz.
