SUMMARY:Bat Hike at Sweetwater River Trail
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a beautiful sunset hike\, during which we will discover the different species of bats that call the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge home! We will also see the distinctive view of San Miguel Mountain and learn about the native plants and animals thriving in this protected space. The hike begins at the Sweetwater River Bridge and continues on to a looped trail. \nDate: Sunday\, April 6\nCheck-in time: 6:00 PM\nDuration: 2 hours \n \n\nMeeting Location: We will meet at Millar Ranch Rd\, Spring Valley\, CA 92019 at the new trail parking lot. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: Take 94 East until it turns into Campo Road. Turn right onto CA-94 E/Campo Road. Turn right onto Millar Ranch Rd. The parking area will be on your right. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the new trail parking lot\, and additional parking is available on the street at no cost. If you park on the street\, you will need to walk a short distance to join the group. \nRestrooms and Water: No restrooms or water stations are available on the trail. The nearest restrooms are in the strip mall down the street. Please plan accordingly. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 2 miles in length. \nProgram Supplies: Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Living Coast staff will be wearing headlamps\, but bringing a flashlight is highly recommended. Please also bring water and bug protection! \nHiking level: Moderate \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 26 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the City Nature Challenge! Over the years\, San Diego County has contributed hundreds of thousands of local biodiversity observations to this fun global community science event\, and our contributions and participants keep growing!  We will explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, while working to identify the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space as part of the City Nature Challenge. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is the CNC? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe City Nature Challenge (CNC) is an annual four-day global bioblitz at the end of April when we find and document wildlife where we live.
