Lower your carbon footprint\, divert waste\, and enhance your garden all with one solution. Join us for a one-hour workshop to get you started and answer questions. (Included with cost of admission) \nOn the first Sunday of the month\, the compost workshop will be offered in English and Spanish. On the last Sunday of the month\, the workshop will cover Vermicomposting! \nCompost bins are available for $35 to Chula Vista residents who have attended one of the City’s composting workshops or the Master Composter Course. \nChula Vista residents can receive free admission to the Living Coast on select Sundays! Click here to sign up.

DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT! \nJoin us as we discover the bat population of Chula Vista! During this bilingual hike\, we will learn about the native wildlife\, including cacti and other plants\, and take every opportunity to observe the animals we see along the trail. \nWe will be joined by Bichologo/Bugologist and the Chula Vista City Park Rangers on this hike! \nDate: Sunday\, October 12\nTime: 6:00 PM\nLocation: Rice Canyon \n \nMeeting Location: We will meet on the west side of the parking lot at 1242 Cima Del Rey\, Chula Vista\, CA\n91910. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: From 805 South\, take the Bonita Road exit. Turn left onto Bonita Road and continue approximately 2.2 miles. Turn right onto Otay Lakes Road and continue approximately 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Avenida Del Rey\, then turn left onto N Rancho Del Rey Parkway. In approximately .4 mile\, the entrance to Rice Canyon Open Space Preserve will be on the right. \nSuggested parking: This park offers a dirt/gravel lot with limited spaces. This lot is located at 1242 Cima Del Rey\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910 \nNearest Trailhead and Restrooms to meeting location: Unfortunately\, this location does not offer restrooms\, so guests should plan accordingly. There is a nearby green space park that may offer restrooms. \nHike lengths: This location has only one entrance into the trail\, so we will make a half-mile hike into the trail and then turn around\, totaling our hike 1 mile in length.
