SUMMARY:Sweetwater Safari Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday as we explore the Sweetwater Marsh Trail on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge! We will learn about the history of the Sweetwater Marsh\, the salt marsh ecosystem\, and the plants and wildlife thriving in this protected space. Backpacks with fun activities\, including magnifying glasses and binoculars\, will be available for families to use while on the hike. \n \nCheck-in time: 11:30 am\nDuration: 30-45 Minutes \nMeeting Location: We will meet outside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center located at 1000 Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista\, CA 91910. \nDriving directions: From the I5 freeway\, exit at E street and head west to the Living Coast Discovery Center parking lot. This hike location is located on a wildlife refuge\, and all visitors must park in the outer lot and take the free Living Coast Discovery Center shuttle. \nSuggested parking: This locations parking lot is located outside of a wildlife refuge. All visitors must take the free shuttle from the parking lot located on Gunpowder Point Drive. This lot is located at Gunpowder Point Drive\, Chula Vista CA 91910. \nRestrooms and Water: The nearest restrooms are located inside the front doors of the Living Coast Discovery Center. You do not have to pay to use the restrooms\, but if visitors choose to enter the facility to visit exhibits they must pay the admission fees. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 1 mile in length. \nProgram Supplies:  Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Bringing a water bottle\, bug protection\, and sun protection are highly recommended. \nHiking level: Easy \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a twilight bat hike in the beautiful Bernardo Bay area near Lake Hodges. Guides from San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy and the Living Coast Discovery Center will lead a bilingual (English/Spanish) hike\, where we will explore the mysterious world of bats and learn about their essential role in our ecosystem! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with nature and discover the wonders of the night sky. \nDate: Saturday\, October 26th\nCheck-in time: 5:00 PM\nDuration: 2 hours \nSOLD OUT!  \nMeeting Location: We will meet at the parking lot at 19140 W Bernardo Dr\, San Diego\, CA 92127\, near the Piedras Pintadas Trailhead and the entrance to the Bernardo Bay Trails. Look for the large flag with the Trail to Bay Challenge logo! \nDriving directions: Take I-15 N. Take exit 26 and turn left toward W Bernardo Dr in San Diego. Follow W Bernardo Dr until you reach the parking lot. Turn right into the parking lot and staging area. \nSuggested parking: Parking is available at the trail parking lot. \nRestrooms and Water: A portable toilet may be available. No water stations are available on the trail. The nearest indoor restrooms will be in the park down the street. Please plan accordingly. \nHike lengths: This trail is approximately 2 – 2.5 miles in length. \nProgram Supplies: Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking. Living Coast staff will be wearing headlamps\, but bringing a flashlight is highly recommended. Please also bring water and bug protection! \nHiking level: Easy – Moderate \nNo pets will be allowed on the hike.
