Shark and Ray Public Feeding 
Ever wanted to touch a stingray? Head to the touch pools at the Shark and Ray Experience and take your turn feeling the velvety backs of the rays as they glide around their pool. Here you’ll also get to see four local species of sharks including leopard sharks, grey smoothhound sharks, horn sharks, swell sharks, and some of their co-habitants, including shovel-nose guitarfishes, bat rays, round rays, diamond rays, colorful fish, and fan-favorite Sapphire the loggerhead sea turtle in their large, 21,000 gallon exhibit. Check out the multiple underwater viewing areas for some of the best views of the animals. Stop by any day of the week at 11:00am or 1:30pm to catch their feeding time and an informative presentation with one of our trained staff.

Enjoy an interactive, guided trail walk with one of our wildlife educators. You’ll get binoculars, bird ID sheets, and more. We’ll learn about the natural flora & fauna and talk about the history of the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This program is generously sponsored by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. *Subject to availability. If a wildlife educator is unavailable, the trail walk is self-guided. Backpacks can be checked out from the front desk for free any day of the week.

Eagle Mesa offers visitors the chance to come face-to-face with giant birds, including a bald eagle and a golden eagle. You’ll learn how these birds take flight and stalk and catch prey with their incredible eyesight. Stop by any day of the week at 2:30 pm to catch their feeding time and an informative presentation with one of our trained staff.

Sweetwater Safari Tour
Enjoy an interactive, guided trail walk with one of our wildlife educators. You’ll get binoculars, bird ID sheets, and more. We’ll learn about the natural flora & fauna and talk about the history of the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This program is generously sponsored by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. *Subject to availability. If a wildlife educator is unavailable, the trail walk is self-guided. Backpacks can be checked out from the front desk for free any day of the week.

Led by one of our docent volunteers, guests will get to hear stories about our animal ambassadors and learn about their wild counter parts. Depending on the group, the docent September focus on the raptors, shorebirds, sharks & rays, turtles, plants, and natural history of the surrounding area and wildlife refuge. Feel free to ask the docent questions about wildlife that interests you!

When will I receive my new membership cards? Your membership cards will be mailed to the address provided within two weeks of joining or renewing. If you would like to visit before your membership cards arrive, show your proof of purchase and a photo ID at the admission desk.

Can family or friends use my membership card? Membership cards are not transferable; only the individuals named on the membership card are entitled to use member benefits.

Can I bring a guest when I visit? Your membership is good for all named individuals on your membership card. Depending on the level of membership you’ve purchased, you will receive single use Guest Passes or 2-for-1 Coupons that you’re welcome to use for your guests. The physical Guest Passes and 2-for-1 Coupon must be turned in at the admission counter at the time of admission.

What should I do if I lose my membership card? To request a replacement card contact the Membership Department by email membership@thelivingcoast.org or by phone at 619-409-5940 to request a replacement card. There is a $5.00 fee for replacement cards.

Can I receive more membership cards? If you would like additional membership cards there is a $5.00 fee. You will receive 2 membership cards with all named individuals printed on each card. Can I use my membership to attend special events or educational programs such as field trips? Memberships, coupons, Groupons®, or other discounts are not valid towards special events, school field trips and other educational programs. Our educational program fees go to support educational programs for your students’ schools, scout groups, and wildlife camps. Membership fees cover general admission to the facility and member-only events.
